Elstartoltunk! A mai nappal hivatalosan is megkezdődött Budapest British International School Katamarán Suli által szervezett tábora. Reggel még picit megszeppent arcok érkeztek a kikötőbe, de nem húztuk az időt, rögtön belecsaptunk a közepébe.
Egy laza ismerkedéssel kezdtünk, ahol a tábor két vezetője, Hajni és Lili gyorsan feloldotta a hangulatot. Miután megvolt a bemutatkozás, körbe sétáltuk a kikötőt is. Mivel tökéletes nyári idő fogadott minket, a délelőttöt a Balatonban töltöttük. Az úszás és a vízi játékok alatt a segítőink – Beni, Petra, Betti, Vince, Rozi, Csani és Zsombi – gondoskodtak róla, hogy senki se unatkozzon. Ebéd előtt még toltunk egy kiadós labdázást is, hogy meglegyen a kellő étvágy.
A menü ma sikeres volt: gulyásleves, gyümölcsleves, mákos tészta és csirkehusi. Kaja után jöhetett a pihi, amit a gyerekek tollassal, labdázással és röpizással töltöttek, a segítőknek nem volt egyszerű dolguk leültetni a bandát.
Az elméleti oktatást Szabi tartotta, aki elmagyarázta a szélrózsát, úgyhogy most már mindenki tudja, merről fúj a szél. Ezután jött a hajók felszerelése, amiben a segítők végig asszisztáltak a srácoknak, majd kimentünk a vízre és vitorláztunk egy jót, a kikötő előtti félszeles pályán. Hamar belerázódtak a gyerekek, így mentünk egy kis túrát is a motorosokat követve.
Az első éles menet után szerencsésen kikötöttünk, és egy érzékeny búcsúval zártuk az első napot.
Wednesday Kick-Off
We’re off! With today officially marking the start of camp, the adventure has begun. Some slightly nervous faces arrived at the marina this morning, but we didn’t waste any time, we jumped straight into it.
We started with a relaxed icebreaker session, where the camp leaders, Hajni and Lili, quickly helped everyone feel at ease. After introductions we took a tour of the base as well.
With perfect summer weather greeting us, we spent the morning in Lake Balaton. During swimming and water games, our assistants – Beni, Petra, Betti, Vince, Rozi, Csani, and Zsombi – made sure that nobody had a chance to get bored. Before lunch, we also squeezed in a lively ball game to work up a healthy appetite.
Today’s menu was a big success: goulash soup, fruit soup, poppy-seed pasta, and chicken. After lunch came some well-deserved rest time, although most of the children preferred badminton, ball games, and card games. Our helpers certainly had their work cut out for them trying to get everyone to sit still!
The theory lesson was led by Szabi, who introduced the wind rose and explained the points of sail, so now everyone knows exactly where the wind is coming from. After that, it was time to rig the boats, with the assistants helping the children every step of the way. Once everything was ready, we headed out onto the water and enjoyed a great sailing session on the beam-reach course in front of the marina. The children quickly got the hang of it, so we even set off on a short tour, following the motorboats.
After our first real sailing session, we returned safely to the harbour and brought the first day to a close with some heartfelt goodbyes.
